Cardboard crafts are a favourite with us, because we send out so many boxes and love to see how they are reused for fun.
A resource that literally turns up on our doorsteps!
We found this beautiful picture of Dinosaur Sun Catchers (below) on the instagram account -

And we thought 'What a fun craft for a sunny day!'
You all agreed and we had some fabulous feedback when we posted in on our instagram page. Many people asked for instructions, and we couldn't find any, so we decided to create a little How-to guide for you.
How-to Guide
Step One - get the stuff
Cardboard box.
Cellophane
Most importantly - the dinosaur shapes!
We found some great dinosaur shapes
here
Go the big size and double it if you can. the bigger the better!
Cut them out and trace around them onto your cardboard.
Add some random shaped holes in the centre where the beautiful colours will go.
Step Two - Cut it out!
Mum or dad will have to do this bit.
Cutting cardboard can be a little tricky.
We used a box cutter. Scissors may work if it's a cereal box or a thinner cardboard.
The kids can 'help' you with their own toy box cutter...like
this one.
Step Three - Add the colour.
Start by cutting the cellophane into smaller pieces.
Then let the kids will have some fun, choosing where the colours go.
Sticky tape the cellophane to the cardboard to cover the holes.
Step Four - Catch the sun.
Now it is time to take your colourful dinosaurs out into the sun.
Or inside against the window if you have a sunny spot.
The connetix tiles work really well, one on each side of the cardboard for another way to play.
We made a simple little stand so he would stand up on his own.
As you can see it's not perfect and we think that's fabulous! Crafts don't need to be perfect.
While you are here, have a look at some of our fun Dinosaur toys, games, puzzles and craft.

Helle owns Lucas loves cars. Working with toys since 2012, she has played with toys for a long time and is very picky about which toys make the list. Like a spoilt child, she will have a tantrum if the toy doesn't work and will play for hours if she finds it engaging and fun. Or until someone tells her it's time for lunch.
