MINDFUL IN MAY
I have registered to be Mindful in May.
Not heard of it? It's summed up on the tag #sitforsomething.
"Create a habit of mindfulness. 10 minutes of meditation a day for 31 days. Learn to meditate with guidance from experts in the field while raising funds for clean water projects."
Mindful in May is a one month meditation challenge ( which is global, and started in Melbourne!) It brings the benefits of meditation together with an opportunity to contribute to bringing clean, safe drinking water to those living in the developing world. The program, created by founder Dr Elise Bialylew, includes weekly audio meditation downloads, exclusive interviews with leading experts in the field of meditation, wellbeing, and wisdom and cutting edge science to keep you connected to your challenge.
I once tried to do daily meditation.....I lasted one day. It just was not high enough on my to-do list for me to remember to do it. By joining Mindful in May I have joined a group and I am committing to a month long quest. And I will be talking about it AND raising fund to help provide clean water for others.
10 minutes a day of calm every day....that's something that every Mum, Dad, grandma.... actually, any human, would benefit from. And the registration and donations helps provide clean water. It's win-win.
Don't really want to meditate, but like the idea of donating? Feel free to donate to my fundraising group.
Join too...and let me how you go!
I'll update you with my progress.
UPDATE: I was rocking it the first week. Loved the 10 minutes of quite to give my brain a break during the day. But......sigh....I have re-prioritised as the month has moved on and I'm not getting it done. I do believe that I can spare 10 minutes, and on the days I am drowning in my head I will stop and do my mindful exercise for the day. It's not ever day though. This exercise has helped me, and will continue to help me. I just find it hard to prioritise sitting still.
