YOUR PHONE IS TRACKING YOU 0

Phone tracking frequent locationsDon't you hate it when you do a software upgrade on your iPhone/iPad and all your settings are changed?

The new IOS update has a setting which tracks your most frequented places, called Frequent Locations.  Yes,  it stores all the places you like to visit frequently. That data goes off somewhere out there into cyberspace.  Who needs this information?  Advertisers?  No thanks!  I'd prefer you don't track my every move thanks.

ACHIEVE THE PERFECT MOTHERS DAY.... 0

Would you like to have a perfect mothers day...with just one phrase? We have one 7 word phrase that will ensure your Mothers Day is the perfect day for you!

It's so simple and yet it will change your whole Mothers Day experience, no more fighting to make one day special. I hear of so many friends who feel let down by Mothers Day. This is the one day when Mums should be pampered, yet we often end up feeling like we're still on duty on our day off.

Inside the Baby and Toddler show 0

Have you ever wondered what happens at the shows when you are not there?   Here are a few photos of our first trip to a show.
The Thursday before the show is the day that the magic really happens. The gorgeous building is beautified and the plain stands turn into colourful displays of the brand personalities.  Of course it rained as we unpacked!  :-)

We thought we had a lot of stuff, but we didn't even fill a trailer!

The stand before we set it up. A blank canvas.....
Our stand after we spent a little time making it ours!
We even had a test drive track! This was a huge hit with the little guys.
We are thinking we should open a creche next time. :-)

They were clever enough to have lots of change tables available.       The Volvo display was gorgeous and clever.

Doesn't everyone love lots of storage?

The Royal Exhibition buildings have a historical beauty.
Lucas came to visit us at the 'Baby and Tobbler show' and made himself right at home playing with some toys.
Peppa pig (and everyone else) has gone home.

Time for a drink and a chat....                                    ...and time to leave. What a great weekend.
See you next year.

Lucas turns 4 - with cars. 0

This week we have been very busy with preparations for our little boy turning into a big boy!   When Mum asked what sort of party he wanted he always replied CARS!  When he was asked what he wanted it was Automoblox or 'something with wheels'.

So our little boy....Sorry....BIG boy turned 4 with a car themed party.

CAR THEMED ACTIVITIES

It was a lovely day to be outside and kids love to run around so we had a few heats of the 'Car and spoon' races.

Just give the kids a wooden spoon with a car instead of an egg and call out, Ready, Set, GO!

(A little trick is to lie the car on its side.)

Then we had a little drink (the adults not the kids) and a run around (the kids not the adults).

The next activity involved getting dizzy and seeing where the cars ended up during the 'Pin the car in the Garage' game.

Early strategy meeting!

Let's get pinning!

The Boys seemed to have a little more sense that the cars go into the Garage.

We used the little red car and his friends as the cars that needed to be parked.

The Garage was an old Polystyrene box that we had, you could easily use a piece of cardboard.  Mum painted it one morning while Lucas was painting a few masterpieces.

When it was time to clean up the kids loved using the CAR SOAP.  No cars were harmed during the making of this soap.  I just collected all the broken bits that I would normally throw out and popped them into some antiseptic hand wash.

 CAR THEMED FOOD

We decorated some drinking cups with cars to add to the festive feel.  The words on the side say GO GO FUEL!  The image is below if you would like to use it.  We attached it to the cups with clear packing tape.

An easy way to turn fairy bread into Car fairy bread is to cut the fairy bread using biscuit cutters.  We also made ANOTHER load of biscuits using all the biscuit cutter shapes. Those biscuit look a little plain don't they?

The next activity was to decorate our biscuits.

We put some icing into snap lock bags, poked a hole in a corner and then the kids got creative.

Yum Yum!
It didn't cost much, and although we didn't match the table cloth, to the invitation, to the icing, we did have a really good time! :-)

EVERYTHING HAS A PLACE. 0

Boxes Boxes Boxes!   I am mad for shoe boxes!

Seriously!  I can't throw away a shoe box - ever!  It took my breath away when my Mum bought shoes the other day and told the lovely lady 'I don't need the box'.  What? Umm...hang on....what?  What do you mean 'you don't need it'? It's a nice black and white one.  It has a separate lid!  Are you crazy woman?

So of course I end up with a stack of shoe boxes and no idea what to do with them. (What a dilemma!)

Since having a little car crazy boy ( AKA Lucas ) my shoeboxes have been put to use!  One shoe box was used very early on as our Lightning McQueen 'home' for all the CARS toys.  We had some Lightning McQueen contact that I used to decorate the shoe box.   And now when we are looking for Guido we know to look in this box.

Then the other day we were bored.  Lucas wanted to play and I was really over driving cars around in circles, round and round and round.  'Let's race again Mummy!'  So we went to the trusty computer and printed out some free printables. You know - the sort from Kidspot.com.au or huggies.com.au.

We decided to colour in Planes, and of course, Dinosaurs!  Hang on....what?  Not cars?  You guessed it - Mummy had a hand in making that decision! While searching through the images I came up with an idea which would 1) keep us busy 2) use my shoe boxes and 3) tidy up the toys!

Can you see where this is going?  We printed out a plane and a dinosaur and enjoyed some time together colouring them in.

That night I laminated the pictures and the next day Lucas helped me to tape each picture to the top of a shoebox.  It really was that simple.

Now we have a home for our planes (and rockets) and one for our dinosaurs (we have 4 now!).  When they are being put away they are 'going home for the night'.

On another quiet day I cut a rectangle in one of my beloved boxes and now it is our post box.

We are lucky enough to have friends and family who send Lucas postcards and we keep them in the box and play postman with them. It's also a great place to keep our special product information forms too. Like the card that lists all the Automoblox cars that you can get.  It's a very important piece of literature for Lucas, he spends hours looking and telling me which ones he has and which ones he needs.  He is determined to have everything on that card.  (Good Luck with that kid.)

When you have toys that need to be put away we think it is easier to teach the kids to put the toys away when they know where they go! This is a simple storage solution that helps teach kids to put their things away and might even save you from stepping on cars that have been left all over the floor.  (that has never happened to me....well not today!

Vroom Vroom!

P.S. - If you still have Nappy boxes they work just as well!   And they are perfect for bigger toys and they even have handles.  We have one for books and one for our coloring-in things
